    Volunteer Program

    Get Involved

Enthusiasm and compassion are the prerequisites for our volunteers. Just a few hours of your time can enrich the game day experience for a player with special needs. If you’re interested in any of our volunteering opportunities feel free to contact us by clicking the link below.

    Buddies

Make a new friend, gain a new perspective.

We are extremely proud of the bonds formed between our buddies and players. The Buddy program has a profound impact on all participants. Buddies and players alike learn valuable skills including patience, understanding, and compassion. By providing players with a Buddy, parents can enjoy watching their child play the game while giving them time to socialize with other parents. Buddies need to be energetic, committed, and enthusiastic for duration of the game.

Buddies protect and assist their player in batting and running the bases (if needed) and are a friend to all. Buddies are responsible for their individual player from the time of introduction until the player is back in the care of their parent/guardian. This means that no matter where their player goes, the Buddy must also go. To be a buddy you need to be at least 12 years of age and we ask that you commit to at least one full game day. Our Buddy system pairs each player with a volunteer helper. Buddy training is provided on-site before your game day begins. Collaborating one-on-one with our players will warm your heart and give you a new perspective on life!

    Coaching Opportunities

Do you have an hour or so to spare on Saturday mornings in the Spring and/or Fall? We are about having fun with players and coaches of all abilities! Our goal is to have at least three coaches per team for team orientation, assigning and reassigning buddies as needed, pitching to the players as needed, ensuring inclusion and safety on the field, and corresponding to the team via email and phone.

You may register as a coach if you are at least a junior in high school. Coaches are requested to arrive 30 minutes prior to game time and must participate in a coach meeting approximately two weeks prior to the start of each season.

    Group Opportunities

Group volunteers are the key to our successful Buddy program. Church groups, athletic teams, corporate groups, civic groups, and school clubs are just a few examples. Everyone who has volunteered with us says the same thing – “We can’t wait to do this again!” Volunteering as a group builds camaraderie and a sense of community involvement. It is a lesson that cannot be taught in a classroom, practice field, or board room. Groups should be made up of volunteers ages 12 and up. We require a commitment of at least one full game day.
